Manual Segmentation
A more recent addition to rview is a
simple
manual VOI (volume of interest) drawing/painting tool. This permits a
user
to view a volume image (eg MRI) and to create a manual segmentation or
labelling of that volume in a second dataset. Basically... the idea is
to:
- Load in an image volume to be
segmented.
- Create a second empty dataset
which
will hold
anatomic/segmentation labels.
- Display the label image ontop of
the
original
image.
- Allow painting or drawing onto the
display
to specify particular regions with a given label.
Simple painting and polygon drawing are
allowed
in any displayed plane on the computer screen to label the nearest
voxels
in the segmentation volume. Multiple labels are permitted and the
output
volume can be saved directly as an analyze file. A colour overlay and
contour
display of labels on the original image provide an indication of
accuracy
as the segmentation proceeds. The following pages give a step by step
